As seasoned travellers here is what we have learned.
- Always take your passport with you. ALWAYS.
- Take the shared shuttle bus from the airport to your hotel. If you are lucky you will be the last one dropped off and you get a free city tour.
- Bring as much luggage as you possibly can, you never know what will come up.
- Talk to drunks in bars (general life advice, not just for travellers).
- Walk as much as possible. Its the best way to explore.
- Get a local SIM with a data plan, its cheaper and faster than the hotel internet.
- Travel alone.
- Take dinner advice from the bloke in the Chilli Shop not the French ponce in the hotel.
- Get made redundant before you travel.
- Don’t write a blog, its hard work and your wife will hate you for it.
- When in the passenger seat of a car take a vow of silence.
- Avoid airports and NASA. Anything that flies.
- If you do have to go through an airport, always put a bottle opener in your carry on bag to give them something to do at the security screening.
- Carry spare underwear in your wife’s handbag.
- Take the city bus tour, unless the tour guide is called Larry.
